Ronnye Tattershall

September 2, 1937 — September 12, 2022

Independence, Kansas

Ronnye's journey started on September 2nd, 1937 in Hamilton, Missouri. He grew up in Chicago but spent his summers with his grandparents on their farm in northern Missouri. Ronnye would ride the train by himself which developed his love for trains. He attended college in Mississippi and entertained himself playing saxophone in a jazz band. Music has always been a part of his life.

He met the love of his life while working at the same company in Parsons, Kansas. She caught his attention by putting a 'For Sale' sign on his brand new mustang. Their first date was a fishing trip. Ronnye knew he had the catch of his life when Erma climbed a tree to catch grasshoppers for bait.

His education was in electronics however he found his passion in welding. He worked at Hackney and Sons for many years. He would work all day at the job, then come home and keep welding something for the farm. He was always building, fixing or creating something.

Ronnye was a 100% dad to his four children and many of their friends. He was a fun loving soul who enjoyed humor and had an infectious laugh. Ronnye enjoyed writing short stories and the occasional politicians. He stayed informed on world events and had a profound love for this country.

There will be a small, private service now for immediate family. Ron and Erma will be burried in the spot next to her mother, Hazel Hambleton Lewis, under the direction of Webb and Rodrick Chapel, for anyone who wishes to attend. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 1, 2022. A celebration of life service for both Ronnye and his wife, Erma will follow the graveside services at Riverside Park Band Shelter. This is open to the public and we encourage everyone to join us in this festivity. To leave a message of condolence for the family visit
