Vivian Arema (Vetaw) Felix, 90 years old passed away quietly in her home on Monday, December 16, 2019. She was born January 15, 1929 and was one of six children born to Levi Vetaw, Sr and Elsie (Blurton) Vetaw. Vivian was a lifetime resident of Independence, Kansas and received her education through the Independence Schools.
Vivian was affectionately called "Bennie" by her friends and relatives. Vivian was a loving and outgoing person and was loved by both young and old alike. She loved playing the lottery and giving to Feed the Children. Vivian will be missed by all who knew her. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Maple Street Baptist Church where her parents and family were active members.
On March 23, 1946, Vivian was united in marriage to John Felix, he preceded her in death. Vivian was the mother of 8 children, grandmother of 30 grandchildren and great-grandmother of 40 great-grand children.
After being a homemaker for many years Vivian went to work in the laundry at Mercy Hospital. She later took a job at Automotive Controls Corporation as a supervisor, where she retired after 18 years. Vivian Fought a good fight and had strong faith in God, she would often say "I am trusting in God" and when God was ready she went peacefully.
She was preceded in death by her husband John, 3 daughters, Barbara Jean, Phyllis, and Johnetha, 5 grandchildren, Alfonzo, Johnny, William, Tina, and Lamar. She leaves to mourn her passing, 4 daughters, Johneva Greadington, Annie (Terry) Carter, Marlene (Tony) Allen, all of Wichita, Ks, and Sheila Kinnard of Independence, Ks. She also, leaves 2 sons, Ray Kinnard and Romel Kinnard both of Wichita, Ks, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be at 10am and Funeral Services at 11 am on Friday, Dec 27, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church, 200 South Penn, Independence, Kansas with Supt. Melvin J. Simpson, Sr Officiating.
