Juanita June Stone, 82, passed away at Medicalodges of Independence on Friday, May 13, 2022. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Webb and Rodrick Crematory and a Celebration of Juanita’s life will be held at a later date.
Juanita was born in Shamrock, Texas to Thomas and Lucy (Baker) Turner on October 13, 1939. In 1958, Juanita graduated from Palo Duro High School in Amarillo, Texas. She then married Vernon Stone in 1959. The two later divorced. Juanita lived in Amarillo and worked as a data entry clerk for BSNF before transferring to Topeka, Kansas in 1982. Juanita worked for BSNF for 30 years before retiring. After retirement Juanita stayed in Topeka until April of 2022. Through the years, Juanita loved reading the Bible and telling stories of her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Lucy Turner, son, Thomas Dale Stone, two brothers, Jerry and Jimmy Turner and grandson, Grant Stone.
Survivors include her daughter, Melissa Husong and husband David of Mounds, OK, two sisters, Darlene Knight and Wanda Firestone, 8 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.
