Gary Redman

Gary Lee Redman, 87, resident of Independence and former long-time resident of Elk City, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at his home.

Gary was born on January 26, 1935, in Independence, Kansas, the son of Frank and Cora (Parks) Redman. He was a graduate of Independence High School, ICC and Mechanical School in Kansas City.

Gary worked out of his home as a mechanic his entire life and retired in 1995. He joined the United States Army Reserve and served 6 years. On July 30, 1960, he married Betty Jo Foster. The two made their home in rural Elk City, Kansas for 50 years. Through the years, the two welcomed one son, Timothy Lee. He preceded him in death in 1980. Gary is also preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Cora Redman, brothers, Fred Redman and Moss Agosto, and his aunt and uncle, Ed and Tressa Boorigie.

Gary is survived by his wife Betty of the home, sister Tressa Agosto of Independence, KS and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, February 8th at 2:00pm at Oak Hill Cemetery in Elk City, Kansas. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in Gary’s name to the Elk City Fire Department.
