Mary Christina Gaut, 93, Independence, Kansas formally of Elk City, Kansas passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Eagle Estates in Independence, Kansas. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Simpson Cemetery rural Elk City, Kansas. Friends may register on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. with the family receiving visitors from 5:30 -7:00 at Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory. Reciting of the Holy Rosary will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to St. Andrews Catholic Church and may be left with the chapel.
Mary was born December 25, 1925 in Pawnee, Oklahoma to Eddy and Lillie Betsey (Schlais) Novotny. Mary attended and graduated Pawnee, Oklahoma Schools. She married Lawrence Ray Gault on June 5, 1944 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Mary was employed by Electra and ACC. Mary was also a lifelong member of St. Andrews Catholic Church. Mary will be remembered as a loving wife and mother and grandmother.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lawrence Ray Gault, daughter Wanda Mae Daugherty, two brothers, Eddie Novotny, Albert Charles Novotny and one grandson Eric Gaut and one great-grandson. Those left to cherish her memory include one son Kenneth Ray Gaut and wife Nina, Ochelata, Oklahoma, two brothers, Robert M. and wife Ardis Novotny, Thayer, KS; George L. and wife Marie Novotny, Olathe Colorado, granddaughter Sandra Lynn and husband Roy Tompkins , Ochelata Oklahoma, two great-grandsons, Stephan and Aric Lantz.
