Marjorie Hope Hughes Warren, age 102, of Elk City, passed away on December 26, 2019. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 30, 2019 at Webb & Rodrick Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Burial will follow at Oak Hill cemetery in Elk City, Kansas. The family will greet visitors from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, Marjorie has requested a memorial fund to the First Christian Church of Elk City and may be left with the chapel.
Marjorie was born Feb 9, 1917 in rural Chautauqua County to Russel & Carrie Hughes. She attended school in West Liberty. She married Charlie Warren on April 22, 1940 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Marjorie & Charlie were partners with Bill Hughes informing the Warren and Hughes oil company in 1946. Shortly after, Marjorie opened Warren’s beauty salon which she operated until retiring at age 80. Marjorie was a member of the First Christian Church of Elk City. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four brothers, Virgil, Buck, Irby (Bud) & Bill.
Those left to cherish her memory include one son. Bill Warren and wife Pam, their children Charlie Warren and wife Carla, Amy Burrett and husband Danny, and great grandchildren Bailey, Curtis and fiancée MacKenzie Strycker, Hannah and Rylee. One daughter Candi Finch and husband Jerry, her daughter Missy Britain and fiancée Chris Brammell, great grandchildren Kiersten Britain and husband Michel. Dillon Britain and wife Deanna, Sydney Hawley and husband Trevor. Great great-grandchildren Lexie Britain, Scott Britain, Emma and River Hawley.
